Europcar is a French car rental company founded in 1949 in Paris.The head office of the holding company, Europcar Group S.A., is in the business park of Val Saint-Quentin at Voisins-le-Bretonneux (Saint Quentin en Yvelines), France. Today Europcar operates in 140 countries covering Europe, North America, Western Asia, and Africa. Since May 2006, Europcar has been owned by Eurazeo, one of the top listed investment companies in Europe.
Alamo Rent a Car is a car rental agency in the United States. Based in Clayton, Missouri, it has branches across North America, South America, Africa, Europe, and Oceania. Alamo was founded in Florida in 1974. In 1996, Alamo was acquired by Republic Industries (later renamed AutoNation). AutoNation spun off its car rental properties as ANC Rental in 2000. ANC filed for bankruptcy a year later; its properties were sold to Vanguard Automotive Group (controlled by Cerberus Capital Management) in 2003. In 2007, Vanguard was acquired by Enterprise Holdings, operator of the largest rental car company in North America, Enterprise Rent-A-Car.
Citer is a French-based car rental company branded as National/Citer. It was established by Citroën in 1968 and was sold to Enterprise Holdings by PSA Peugeot Citroën in 2011. Citer has owned the Spanish car rental company Atesa since 1989 and was also sold to Enterprise. Since 1998 Citer was a National franchise holder and has 250 sites in France and a further 110 in Spain. In 2011 Citer and Atesa has a fleet of 30,000 vehicles.
Thrifty Car Rental is a subsidiary of The Hertz Corporation with headquarters in Estero, Florida. Formerly operating as Dollar Thrifty Automotive Group, Thrifty shares 340 corporate and 1,500 franchise rental car locations in the United States and Canada with Dollar Rent A Car as of February 2017.
Firefly Car Rental is a low cost car rental brand owned by Hertz. Hertz developed the new brand to replace Advantage Rent a Car which had to be sold following the acquisition of Dollar Thrifty Automotive Group. It first opened in March 2013 with branches in Europe, with American branches following in September 2013. In August 2014 Firefly opened its first location in the Middle-East serving Dubai Airport in the UAE and in September 2014 opened its first locations in Australia. As of January 2015 it has over 100 locations in 13 countries.
